GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina University women's soccer and volleyball teams competed against each other in the ECU Strong Woman Competition. The competition, themed "It's Go Time" included 12 weeks of training, ending with the competition. In the end, it was the women's soccer team that won the team competition and Kelley Wernert of the volleyball squad who won the individual title.

The teams had to compete in six different events as part of the competition. Led by assistant strength and conditioning coach Danny Wheel and student assistants Agame Uri and Mike Yartin, the teams first three events were 40 yards each in length. The farmer's walk (172 lbs) was the first event, followed by the keg run (50 lbs) and then the sled pull (45 lbs). The tire flip (300 lbs) and the sled push (45 lbs) were the next two events, while the bag relay concluded the events. In the bag relay, the competitors had to carry bags of various weights down and back (25 lbs, 50 lbs, 75 lbs). The final three events were each in 20 yard increments.

The women's soccer team edged the volleyball squad by eight minutes to take this years title. Wernert's time of 2:26.88 earned her individual honors.
