Willis Earns All-State Honors

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Nicole Willis was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) Second Team it was announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.

A right side out of Raleigh, N.C., Willis earned the honors after leading the ECU volleyball team in kills (323), kills per set (3.76), points (370), points per set (4.30), service aces (22), and service aces per set (0.26). In addition to leading the squad in numerous offensive categories, she also added 228 digs (2.65 per set), 33 total blocks (0.51 per set) and 13 assists (0.15 per set).

Willis set the ECU single-match record with 32 kills at Southern Miss on October 28, and led the team with 10 double-doubles while posting 16 double-figure kill performances on the year. She also led the Pirates in kills on 19 occasions. Willis finished the season ranked fifth in Conference USA in points per set, sixth in kills per set, and ninth in service aces per set.

Willis and the Pirates will return to the court for the 2013 season on Friday, August 30, at the Wake Forest Deacon Invitational. ECU will play its home opener against The Citadel at the East Carolina Classic which is set to begin on Friday, September 6, at 7 p.m. at Minges Coliseum.
