Volleyball Comes Up Short at N.C. A&T
10/01/2003 GREENSBORO, N.C.-Sophomore outside hitter Pam Ferris put down a career-high 19
kills to lead four East Carolina volleyball players in double figures, but North Carolina
A&T outblocked ECU, 15-6, as the Lady Aggies held off ECU, 31-33, 36-34, 30-27 and
30-22 Tuesday night. ECU fell to 8-9 on the season.
Katie Jannusch added 16 kills and 14 digs for her third double-double of the season. Jaime Bevan added 11 kills and Alexis Jones chipped in 10 kills for ECU. Sophomore libero Johanna Bertini led the defense with 17 digs. Arlene Mitchell recorded a match-high 26 kills to lead the Lady Aggies. Stefani Eddins and Amelia Langri each had 14 kills for North Carolina A&T. ECU won game one, 33-31 and had the lead in game two before North Carolina A&T rallied for a 36-34 win. The Lady Aggies (7-10) out-hit ECU, .353-.325 and turned in the 15 block performance. Tonga LoLeini had nine blocks in the match N.C. A&T. Judith Ball aded 21 digs. ECU out-dug the Lady Aggies, 65-58. Junior setter Jessica Vick ran the offense finishing with 60 set assists. The Pirates return home after being on the road for the last month. ECU opens up Conference USA play this weekend. The Pirates host UAB Friday night at 7 p.m. before hosting USF Saturday night at 7 p.m.
