BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB (6-12, 1-2 Conference USA) defeated East Carolina (4-13, 0-3 C-USA) 30-28, 30-23, 30-26 in Conference USA volleyball action Saturday evening at Bartow Arena.

Senior right side hitter Kristi Lee had 17 kills, six digs and hit for .314 to lead UAB. Junior outside hitter Martina Shields recorded her team-leading sixth double-double of the season, as she posted 14 kills and 11 digs, while hitting for .458 for UAB. Senior setter Dina Katsoulis added 33 assists for the Blazers.

Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Vick had nine kills and five digs to lead East Carolina. Sophomore setter Jessica Vick added 12 assists and five digs for the Pirates.

East Carolina returns home to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum on Saturday, October 12 to face DePaul at 7 p.m.
