GREENVILLE, N.C. - Cincinnati's Julie DuPont posted a match-high 26 points including 25 kills and one solo block and the Bearcats hit .456 as Cincinnati defeated East Carolina in three games, 30-22, 30-23 and 30-12, Saturday night at Williams Arena in Conference USA volleyball action. ECU fell to 9-15 and 0-6 in C-USA while the Bearcats improved to 19-2 and 5-0 in C-USA.

Sophomore outside hitter Erica Wilson led the Lady Pirates with nine kills on a .389 attack percentage. Sarah Vick added seven kills for ECU. Junior setter Jessica Vick recorded 24 set assists.

DuPont, who finished the match hitting .488, led three Bearcat players in double figures. Rachel Torblaa added 12 kills while Maria Pongonis finished the match with 11 kills. Cincinnati out-hit ECU, .456-.156 notching 63 kills to ECU's 29 kills.

ECU led game one 6-4 after a kill by Sarah Vick. After Cincinnati rallied to regain the lead, ECU tied game one, 12-12. The Bearcats then went on a 7-2 run to take a 19-14 lead. ECU pulled within 19-16 after Alexis Jones and Jaime Bevan combined for a block, but the Bearcats used a 6-2 run to lead 25-18. DuPont's 12th kill of game one gave the Bearcats the game, 30-22. Cincinnati out-hit the Lady Pirates, .444-.276 in game one.

The Lady Pirates led early in game two 3-2 before the Bearcats tied the game and used an 8-1 run to take an 11-4 lead. Wilson put down two kills during a 6-3 ECU run pulling the Lady Pirates within 14-10, but DuPont and Pongonis combined for eight kills down the stretch to help the Bearcats to the 30-23 win.

The Bearcats hit .552 knocking down 17 kills in the third game to take game three, 30-12.

Laura Lauder ran the Bearcat offense finishing with 53 set assists. Sarah Vick and Jessica Vick each had nine digs for the Lady Pirates. ECU and Cincinnati each had five blocks in the match. Bevan finished the match with six kills and four total blocks for ECU.

East Carolina returns to action next Saturday when they host Charlotte for a Conference USA match at 7 p.m. Cincinnati returns to host Southern Miss and Tulane.
