HOUSTON, Texas - Four Houston players reached double figures in kills, led by freshman Kelly McAnelly with 15 as the Cougars knocked off East Carolina (10-20, 1-11 C-USA) in three games, 30-22, 30-17 and 30-23 Friday night at the Hofheinz Pavilion. Sarah Vick led ECU with 12 kills and the Pirates managed eight blocks.

Erica Wilson finished with six kills while freshman Jaime Bevan hit .333 and finished with five kills. Houston hit .311 while ECU only hit .138. The Cougars out-dug the Pirates, 59-33. Freshman setter Heidi Krug ran the offense and finished with 24 set assists. Senior Alexis Jones recorded five blocks while Bevan had three blocks.

Houston (9-18, 5-8 C-USA) took a big lead in the first two games of the match in cruising to a 30-22 and 30-17 scores, despite battling the Pirates and going back-and-forth early in the third game, pulled ahead to 20-10 and never looked back en route to a 30-23 game win.

Cinthia Piva and Becca Sartori had 13 kills apiece, respectively, for Houston and Loure Dews had 10 kills. Piva added 10 digs for a double-double, and Mirela Vasconcellos registered 11 digs and a team-high 27 assists to join Piva as the other Cougar with a double-double.

In addition, Piva led Houston with a .450 hitting percentage for the match.

East Carolina wraps up its regular season Saturday night when they travel to TCU. First serve is scheduled for 8 p.m.
