Faison Campbell was appointed as a learning specialist with the Office of Student Development at East Carolina University in January of 2019.
Included among her many responsibilities with OSD are developing and implementing learning strategies for at-risk students, providing instruction related to study skills, time management, note and test taking along with serving as a liaison with ECU's Office of Disability Support Services and assisting with coordination of the mentor and the school's Academic Accountability Partner program.
Before returning to her alma mater in a full-time capacity, Campbell spent nearly three years in the classroom primarily teaching at the elementary school level in Red Springs, St. Pauls and Stokes, N.C.
She served as a graduate assistant from 2014 to 2016, working with ECU's Literacy Education and History Education (LEHE) Department while also handling a teaching assistant assignment with the institution's READ 1031 course.
Campbell earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a concentration in reading from East Carolina in 2014 before following with a master's in reading education two years later and certification to teachĀ English as a second language.
In addition to completing graduate school with a 4.0 grade point average, she is a member of the North Carolina Association of Educators, International Literacy Association, National Education Association, Kappa Delta Phi (ECU Chapter) and Phi Kappa Phi.
