Purple Squad and 8 Members of the All Girl Squad will be selected in the Spring
Gold Squad and remaining 8 Members of the All Girl Squad will be selected in the Fall
(Incoming Freshman may tryout during the Fall Tryouts)

EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY CHEERLEADING
2005 Fall TRY-OUTS
August 20 - 24, 2005
Mandatory Meeting - Saturday, August 20 2pm (Place: TBD)
Practices - Sunday 11:00 - 2:00 & 4:00-6:00 (Place: TBD)
Practices - Monday - Tuesday 3:30-6:30 (Place: TBD)
Final Try - Outs Wednesday, August 24 3:30-until (Place: TBD)
- 8 Females and 8 Males will be selected for the Gold Coed Squad
- 8 Females will be selected for the All Girl Squad
Try-Out Requirements:
1. A great attitude and commitment
2. A 2.0 minimum GPA
3. Good Standing with the University (no flags on student records)
4. At Try-Outs for all three squads the following are required:
- Dance
- Fight Song
- Cheer
- Tumbling
Purple Squad (Coed)
- Round Off
- Tumbling pass 3 skills which includes at least a round off and minimum of two back handsprings
- Standing Back Handspring
- Standing Back Tuck
Gold Squad (Coed) & All Girl
- Round Off
- Tumbling pass 3 skills which includes at least a round off and minimum of two back handsprings
- Standing Back Handspring
- Partner-Stunts
Purple Squad (Coed)
- Toss Extension - Toe Touch Cradle
- Walk in Hands -Liberty - Pop Off
- Hop-N-Go Heel Stretch - Full Cradle
- Optional Stunt
Gold Squad (Coed)
- Toss Hands - Lib - Pop Off
- Walk in Hands -Toe Touch - Cradle
- Hop-N-Go Extension Pop Off
- Optional Stunt
All Girl Squad Tryout Stunts will be done throughout the tryout week
- We will be looking for Bases, Flyers, and Backspots
5. Female students trying out for Coed squad
must not weigh more than 125 lbs (as that is the weight the men have as
a minimum baseline strength assessment)
6. Male students trying out for or retuning to the squad must
clean lift 155lbs. one time, press lift 155 lbs. five times, and pump
55lbs. dumb bell five times with each arm.
7. Fill out and sign all necessary waivers and forms.
Each student will be cleared by sports medicine prior to try
out activities. Students on prescription medications including asthma
inhalers must bring them with you for sports medicine clearance.
