GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina Pirates (10-7-1) are set to host the Pennsylvania Quakers (2-8) for a high-stakes three-game series at Clark-LeClair Stadium this weekend. The Pirates enter the matchup with significant wind in their sails following a dominant stretch of midweek play, coming out victorious against Old Dominion and William & Mary, ending both gamed in run-rules. This weekend's series marks the final weekend before conference play begins.
Two Game Midweek Win-Streak
The Pirates began their week with a clinical 11–0 shutout victory over Old Dominion on Tuesday, March 10. The pitching staff was the story of the afternoon, combining to hold the Monarchs to just two hits over seven innings. Ryan Towers earned his first win of the season, tossing 4.0 scoreless frames, while Gavin Marley provided 3.0 hitless innings of relief to seal the win. Offensively, Jack Herring paced the Pirates, going 2-for-2 with three RBI, and Carlos Jacome capped the performance with a towering two-run home run to walk off the game in seven innings.Â
Building on that momentum, the Pirates traveled to Williamsburg on Wednesday, March 11, for an offensive explosion in a 24–3 victory over William & Mary. The 24 runs marked one of the most prolific scoring outputs in the head coach Cliff Godwin era, supported by 20 hits. Braden Burress delivered a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and three RBI, while Austin Irby added a home run and four RBI. These consecutive dominant wins have pushed the Pirates to a 10–7–1 record, highlighting a team that is finding their dominance just as they return home.Â

About Pennsylvania
The visiting Pennsylvania Quakers arrive in Greenville, bringing a battle-tested roster led by head coach John Yurkow. While the Quakers have navigated a challenging 2–8 start to the 2026 season, their record denies the talent of a program that has secured back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2023 and 2024. Penn has has a few solid opponents, making their way through the south to take on No.24 Texas A&M, as well as Mercer. But, The Quakers were able to solidify their first two wins of the season against UMBC, while hosting Delaware before making the trip to Greenville. Known for their resilience and disciplined approach at the plate, the Quakers represent an opponent capable of capitalizing on any defensive lapse as they look to snap a recent skid.Â
For the Pirates, the goal is to maintain the offensive explosion led by hitters like Burress and Irby while continuing to get shutdown performances from a bullpen that has not allowed a run in its last 16.0 innings of work.Â
First pitch for Friday's game against Penn is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. EST. Â
